Do March Showers bring April flowers?

In the last few weeks we have had some of the most gorgeous weather here in New Jersey, followed by the most dreary. Molly and I absolutely basked in the glow of the toasty warm sun several afternoons, and I've got pictures to prove it! Rich and I also had a chance for a picnic date at a park one sunny Saturday afternoon.

Without the pictures, I might not believe we actually had such nice weather only days ago. Looking outside right now, it's a wet mess with no signs of stopping. Our play group Easter Egg Hunt was postponed from last Thursday to this one, and the weather should perk up just in time.

In other news (bored with the weather chit chat yet?) we've bought a house and have ours on the market. House being bought, pics to be posted later. We haven't had our inspection yet and I don't want to jinx anything! Supposedly, our house will be getting an offer tomorrow, which the real estate agent wants to do in person. Strange. Not really my cup of tea for a stranger to come to my house to try and pressure me into selling it at a price considered reasonable to probably only her clients. I don't do well with pushy, though I know I am pushy myself. Why can't we communicate through phone calls via OUR real estate agent like everyone else? I guess I'm not very optimistic about it being a good offer if they feel the need for a pressure tactic. We shall see!

Potty Training Inspirations.

We got Molly a potty quite a while ago, though I can't remember exactly when. I just wanted to introduce her to it and see what she thought. Through a very slow process, she pretty much exclusively poops on the potty, which is great! We've had a lot of funny moments through the process, from running her to the potty while trying to get her pants/diaper off... and not making it, to Molly's cute quotes: "Get out poopoo, get out!"

After a few days of Molly's successful, if occasional, peeing in the potty, we got M&Ms for a reward. Boy was this a good idea! The next day, Molly was asking to go to the potty about every 10-15 minutes. Every time she sat down, she managed something. She gets one M&M after each time she goes and each and every time it seems to absolutely thrill her.

After a few successful days, Molly got to go to Wal-Mart and pick out some "big girl panties" last night. She picked out a package that had "Cinnerbella" panties and a couple of other princesses. She was hesitant to begin wearing them, but once she had them on this morning, she had a bit of a strut going on!

She'll still be wearing diapers at nap time, at night, and when we're out. She's not at all ready for the "big potty" even with her own potty set on top. But it's definitely a great beginning to being diaper free! Yay Molly!

Someday Soon

Hopefully, someday soon, my techie hubby will get this blog in order where everything isn't so off-centered and messy. I'd like to start all over, but I have yet to find the "return to default" button.

We just got back to New Jersey last night at around 8:00. Rich brought everything in while I whipped up a very quick dinner. Molly wasn't in the best of moods, but was glad to be out of the carseat("torture seat" if you ask her). After dinner and a bath, she was finally in bed at 9:15.

This morning when she woke up, I expected a little crankiness due to the late hour she got to bed and the crazy schedule of the last few days. She was more than a little cranky, and a mid-morning nap attempt did not help at all. I finally noticed that she wasn't moving her right hand and arm as much as her left. Unusual since she favors her right most of the time. After close examination, I could see her right wrist was swollen, confirmed by Rich :-(. We're thinking it was sprained during our very short trip to Virginia Beach while we held her by the hands/wrists to pick her up out of the waves. After a call to the pediatrician and a conversation with a nurse, broken bones was ruled out since Molls is still using her hand and arm a little, and easily lifts her arms up over her head. Still, if it isn't "all better" tomorrow, I'm taking her to the pediatrician just to be on the safe side.

I literally feel pain in my arms when I see her wince a little if she puts too much pressure on the wrist. I've felt "sympathy pains" for a few years now when I see someone else get hurt or hear about it, but it's much more intense when Molly is hurt. I was even lightheaded when she scraped her knee a few weeks ago.

Wanting to take Molly's pain away, wishing it was me instead of her, it's definitely one of those mommy experiences you have to have to understand. Rich is feeling it, too, and get's a sad look on his face whenever he looks at her wrist. Ahhhh, parenthood. Such an incredible gift and blessing, even when painful.
